Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek(11days)


Season: The recommended season for this trek is April, September and October.

Day 01: Arrive Paro

Druk air flight will bring you to beautiful mountain ranges and when you land in Paro, you will be received by our representative and transfer you to the hotel.

You can spend your evening time at town in Paro.

Overnight stay: Hotel in Paro.

Day 02: Paro Sightseeing - Thimphu

Before lunch, visit Ta Dzong (National Museum), Paro Rinpung Dzong, Drukgyel Dzong Kyichu Lhakhang. On the way to Kyichu Lhakhang, you can view the beautiful scene of Paro Taktshang (Tiger's Nest). Drive to Thimphu after lunch and overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.

Day 03: Thiimphu Sightseeing

Whole day excursion in Thimphu visiting Memorial Chorten, National Library, Tashichhodzong, the Institute of Zorig Chusum ( the school for thirteen traditional arts and crafts) and Handicrafts. After lunch, visit city market and town. Overnight stay:Hotel in Thimphu.

Day 04: Thimphu - Genekha (14km, 4 hours)

After 45 minute of driving, you will reach the starting point of trek. The first day of the trek is on mule path and will end after four hours at Genekha Primary School. The trail passes through rice terrace and conifer forests. Host a camp at Genekha near a stream at 2800m.

Day 05: Genekha - Gur (15km, 4 hours)

The trek starts with Alpine flora and fauna. Two hours of gradual ascension, walk through platform of huge rocks. Host a camp at Gur.

Day 06: Gur - Labatama (12km, 6-7 hours)

The trail is amidst the flowers and wild asparagus. While on the way, one can enjoy the beauty of Himalayan vegetation. Dagala range can be seen if the weather is clear. After lunch walk across the hills and host a camp at Utso Lake.

Day 07: Labatama Halt

This day of the trek is excursion to any of the three lakes; Relitsho, Hentsho and Jamatsho. Overnight at camp.

Day 08: Labatama - Panka (8km, 4 hours)

Majestic view of the Himalayan peaks can be appreciated after twenty minutes of walking. The point is around 4460m. Overnight at point is around 4460m. Overnight at camp.

Day 09: Panka - Talikha (8km, 4 hours)

This trek is wonderful by crossing several passes searching for different varieties of Blue Puppy (June - July) and mountain birds. Then one trail leads to Talekha and another to Wangdiphodrang. After lunch, an hour's climb brings you to the tip of the last Dagala range from where the views of Thimphu valley are spectacular. You are at the last camp after an hour's walk. Host a camp above Talekha monastery.

Day 10: Talikha - Thimphu - Paro

You will reach Talekha monastery and village after passing through alpine forest and mixed vegetation. Then pass through mixed vegetation and apple orchards to reach motorable road where your transport is waiting. Drive to Thimphu for lunch. Drive to Paro in the evening and take overnight lounge at the hotel in Paro.

Day 11: Paro Departure

After breakfast, drive to Paro International airport for the flight to your destination. The guide will see you off at the airport.
