TRAVELLING TO THE HEART OF DRAGON(9 nights & 10 days)

Day 01: Arrival in Land of Thunder Dragon.

Your first day will bring you the most spectacular view of the Himalayan ranges. Before entering Bhutan, you will be able to view the highest mountain ranges, the Mt. Everest, Mt Makula, Mt Kangchenjunga and later you will also see the mountain ranges of Bhutan like Mt.Jhomolhari, Mt.Jichu drake, Mt Tsheringang. You will reach to Paro airport after 3 hrs, 20 minutes (From BKK),56 minutes(from Kathmandu),45 minutes(from Kolkata) and 2 hrs 10minutes(From Delhi).
Upon arrival in Paro Airport, representative from Bhutan Guidance Tours and Treks will greet and take you for sightseeing in Paro. The first sightseeing will be Tadzong (watching tower) and later converted to National Musuem of Bhutan in 1967. The museum is filled with antique paintings, carvings,statues,textile and Jewelry. Drive to Paro Rimpong dzong(fortress of heap of jewel) built in 17th century. The dzong is now administration center and school for monks. In the evening, walk around Paro town.

Day 02: Paro Sight seeing

After breakfast, visit Kyichu Lhakhang built in 659AD by Tibetan king Songsen Gampo in single night. You can also visit Drukgyel dzong in ruined state which was built in 164 After breakfast, visit Kyichu Lhakhang built in 659AD by Tibetan king Songsen Gampo in single night. You can also visit Drukgyel dzong in ruined state which was built in 1649 to commemorate the victory from the Tibetan Invader. On a clear day, you can see the mountain Jhomolhari covered by snow capped.

Day 03: Paro-Thimphu

Morning drive to Thimphu or modern capital city of Bhutan and witness Thimphu tshechu or festival. Festival is the ritual dance performs by monks and laymonks to pay respect to enlighten masters. Festival is also the time to gather among the families from different parts of Bhutan. One will enjoy the dance and hospitality of Bhutanese.

Day 04: Thimphu-punakha

After breakfast,visit Semtokha dzong(oldest fortress in Bhutan,built in 1629) enroute to Punakha. On the way,you can enjoy the beautiful pass of Dochula(3050m) with 108 stupa on top hill. On clear day, you can see the beautiful peaks of Bhutan. In punakha you can visit Punakha dzong built in 1637 between Phochu(Male river) and Mochu(Female River). You can also visit Chimmi Lhakhang or temple of fertility.

Day 05: Punakha-Bumthang

After breakfast, drive to Bumthang via wangduephodrang and Trongsa. You will be crossing Pelela pass and Yotongla pass to reach Bumthang.Your journey to Bumthang will take you through sub-tropical forest and beautiful valleys. Bumthang is well known for its holy site and beautiful scenery. Bumthang is also called as "second switzeland to Bhutan".

Day 06: Local sightseeing in Bumthang

Bumthang is called the cultural and religious centre of Bhutan and it is also known as second Switzeland to Bhutan. In Bumthang, Jakar dzong is one of the highlights. According to the history, the place for this dzong was selected by a big white bird and was interpreted as an important omen. Jakar dzong, which means "castle of the white bird". The interested place in Bumthang is:
  • Kurjey Lhakhang, (founded in 8th century and Guru Rimpoches kept body print on rock)
  • Jambay Lhakhang, (one of the old monasteries in Bhutan).
  • Tamzhing Monastery, seat of Tertoen Pemalingpa.
  • Jakar dzong. Built in 17th century.
  • Swiss farm house.

Day 07: Bumthang-Trongsa

Drive to Trongsa via Yotongla pass. Trongsa is the central part of Bhutan and considered as one of the beautiful place for visitors. The interests sightseeing in Trongsa are Trongsa Dzong built In 17th century and one of the longest fortress or dzong in Bhutan. Ta-dzong or watching tower to Trongsa dzong is converted to museum.

Day 08: Trongsa-Thimphu

After breakfast, you will be driving back to Thimphu and on the way: you will visit Wangduephodrang dzong built in 1638 on the hill shape of sleeping elephant. You will be further driving to Thimphu by passing Pelela pass and Dochula pass. Clear day will bring your beautiful image of mountains and valleys.

Day 09: Thimphu-Paro

After breakfast, drive to Satsham to hike to Tiger nest (Takshang) monastery, built on a cliff above 900m from Paro valley. It is believed Guru Rimpoche(second Lord Buddha) came riding on the back of Tigress in 8th century and meditated for three months.

Day 10: Depart from Bhutan

Representative from Bhutan Guidance Tours and Treks will drop you to Paro international airport to reach your onward destination. Wish you pleasant flight journey.
